How One New Client Covers the Full Cost of Your Acquisition System
The ROI calculation for a proper client acquisition system is simpler than most agencies think.
When agencies look at the cost of a client acquisition system the number can feel significant. Particularly when compared against the cost of doing nothing, which feels like zero.
The cost of doing nothing is not zero. It is the revenue you are not generating.
The unit economics
A typical agency client is worth somewhere between £20,000 and £80,000 per year in fees. A client acquisition system that costs less than that per year pays for itself the moment it generates a single client who stays for twelve months. Everything after that first client is profit.
In practice, a well-run outbound campaign generates five to fifteen qualified conversations per month. Even at a conservative close rate, that is one to two new clients per month from outbound alone.
The 12.5x example
One of our clients, a creative agency in Benelux, generated £155,000 in new revenue from a single outbound campaign. The return on investment after three months was 12.5x. Two deals. One campaign.
That is not a typical result in the sense that every campaign produces exactly that. It is a typical result in the sense that the underlying logic holds consistently. One client pays for the system. Everything else is upside.
The real question
The question is not whether a client acquisition system is worth the cost. The maths on that is clear. The question is whether your agency can afford to wait for the next referral while a competitor builds the infrastructure that generates conversations consistently.
